What does your home use during daylight?
That is the first useful question. A monthly bill shows the total, but not whether the electricity is used by daytime air conditioning, a home office or appliances running late at night.
The roof you can use
Photographs help start the conversation. A qualified survey still needs to assess shade, roof condition, mounting suitability and electrical access.
What happens after dark
A battery is not compulsory. If stored energy or outage backup matters, list the circuits and appliances you want it to support before discussing capacity.
Grid-tie, on-grid or hybrid solar?
Grid-tie and on-grid describe solar connected to the electricity grid. Generation can serve household loads while available, with grid supply still needed when demand exceeds generation. A battery is a separate design choice, not an automatic part of an on-grid system.
A standard grid-connected system should not be expected to keep the house powered during an outage. A hybrid configuration needs appropriate equipment, isolation and agreed backup circuits. Compare these system roles first, then discuss any export through the separate utility net-metering process.
Start with consumption, not a peso saving.
Bring a recent electricity bill with the kWh consumption visible. If your use changes substantially through the year, more than one bill gives a better picture. The amount paid is useful context, but tariffs and bill components mean it is not a direct measure of the solar equipment you need.
We use that information to qualify the enquiry and explain the available system routes. The appointed implementation partner confirms the site survey, engineering, equipment and installation scope. A remote conversation does not replace the roof or electrical inspection.
Keep solar-only and backup separate.
Grid-connected solar can supply household demand when generation is available. A standard grid-connected system should not be treated as emergency power when the grid fails. Backup needs an appropriate system design, not simply a panel count.
If your priority is keeping a fridge, lights or home office running, the hybrid assessment should start with those loads and the time you need them. Adding every appliance to the backup list changes both power and storage requirements.
Check ownership and access early.
A rented property, shared roof or planned renovation needs a different conversation from an owner-occupied house with clear roof access. Confirm who can approve the work and whether roofing changes are already planned.
Before committing, ask for a written scope identifying the equipment, mounting, electrical works, connection route and after-sales responsibilities. For a Meralco-served property, use the net-metering guidance to understand the separate utility application.
